TASK 2 //

ROUGH CUTS

In the first rough cut shown, I have presented the first draft of my short film, where the initial opening scene has been put into my Final Cut Pro 7 project. This sequence was unedited and was not trimmed to the clip lengths I desired. I had purely just put the clips in order and placed them beside each other in order to allow me to come back later and cut these clips to the correct timings.

In the next rough cut, I have shown my second version of the short film, where I had edited the clips which were placed into the sequence. I had entered the scene where the protagonist is getting ready to leave her house, as well as the violin recital scene of the film. These scenes are accompanied with an extra scene in between, therefore this draft was an incomplete version of the film. However, the scenes which have been added were edited and trimmed to the desired times.

This rough cut was juristically different from the previous version, as it has all clips which I intent on using in the timeline of the film. These clips included the scene where Sophie is making her way towards the violin recital. However, these clips were only put into sequence in the correct order, and still needed to be adjusted in terms of timings. I had also added the titles into the film.

The last rough cut I had made before completing the editing process of my final product is playable and is located on the left of this text. The rough cut had been improved from the previous version, as I had cut down the time of the entire production by almost half of it's length. This was essential, as it is specified that the production of my portfolio must be around the time frame of five minutes. I had managed to delete certain clips, as well as trim others down.
