TASK 23 //
AUDIENCE FOR MAGAZINE REVIEWS
For this task, I have presented an emaze powerpoint, where I explore the audience for magazine reviews of coming of age films. This was done through analysing why the magazines produced in the industry now are suitable for the audience, which is teenagers and young adults, as well as why they are not targeted for audiences like children and adults. I was also able to explore features of the magazine which is used in order to entice the audience of the magazines, such as star ratings and colloquial language.
When researching into the audience for magazine reviews, I was able to understand what target audience my own magazine review would be made to be sold to, as well as what I would need to do to be appealing to this specific audience. I discovered that magazine reviews are typically consumed by teenagers and young adults who are either enthusiastic about films, would like to know about a film they are thinking about going to see, finding a second opinion to a film they have previously watched or just come across the review in a magazine they have bought for other purposes. As film reviews are often found in the same magazines which explore themes of celebrities, gossip in the industries and sport, the audience member may have bought the magazine for another section, however they can still consume the reviews. From this task, I can take that I will need to keep any ancillary tasks I decide to do and keep them focused on the audience of teenagers, as they are the people who would consume my products in the real world. To achieve this, I will need to use certain features, such as: informal/colloquial language, short paragraphs, large images, star ratings and a brief synopsis.
