TASK 19 //
CASTING

The first female I had considered playing the role of Sophie for my short film was Kayleigh. I believed she fit the role for my protagonist, as she was the age I wanted my protagonist to be, which was 17. She was also an ideal candidate for playing the role of Sophie, as she would be available to film almost identically to the times I will be able to film. Her dress sense is also very fitting for the role, as she is seen wearing an outfit that is mainly black.

The third person that I was considering to play the role for my protagonist was Guljeet. Guljeet is a 17-year-old sixth form student who will be available to film at convenient times for me. However, she will not fit the protagonist’s features, as her ethnicity is Asian British, whereas I have planned for the protagonist to be White. Also, I believe the role of a ‘goth’ will not fit the actor’s appearance as much as the others.

The next person who I believed could play the role of the protagonist for the film is Sadie. She will be an ideal person to be playing the role of my protagonist, as her dress sense of wearing skirts and blazers, with the addition of accessories like necklaces and dark eye shadow, is almost identical to what I will aspire to recreate as the protagonist. She will also be available to film around the same time that I will be able to film. Sadie is also 17 years old, which is the age my protagonist has been planned to be around.

Finally, the last person which I considered playing the role of Sophie within my short film was Amrita. Amrita is a 17-year-old sixth form student who was proved to be the most convenient in terms of filming. I was also aware that she was available from lessons during the school day at the same times as me, therefore I would be able to see her in this time and arrange any props or timings which would need to be discussed for filming. I leaned towards picking her, as she also tends to wear necklaces on a nose ring on a day-to-day basis. Although she does not normally wear dark shades of eye shadow, she had all the necessary make up to create this effect. Therefore, I picked Amrita to play the role of the protagonist, Sophie, in my film.
