To view my analysis of film titles within the genre, click the video above. I have decided to present my analysis in the style of a weather report, where I have scattered the titles across a weather map and discussed them. Also, to the right, I have displayed the full screen images of the film titles in the coming of age short films in the style of a gallery. To enlarge the title screens you wish to view, click the smaller version underneath.

From the completion of this task, I have learnt the conventional way in which a film title will be shown and appear in a coming of age short film. All of the titles I have analysed are from this specific genre and in the style of a short film, as it allows me to gain an understanding on this minority of films which I will be planning in the near future. I have learnt the conventional way which a title will appear will be of white text on a black background. The title is usually large and is predominantly taking up most of the screen. I analysed the usual colours, fonts, sizes and positioning of the text on the title screens. In particular, I focused on the timing of the titles as this would allow me to follow the conventional theme of when the title would appear. I found out that the typical time a title screen will be present in a coming of age short film is 5-7 seconds, where it should NEVER exceed 10 seconds. It also became apparent that titles should be shown at the start of the film, with the absence of idents, production and distribution companies and any other credits. I can use this information when planning my own short film as I can either chose the path of following the conventional route to my own title screen, as well as subvert these typical ways to allow my film to stand out. Currently, I believe the title appearing immediately would be ideal.
