For this task, I have decided to present a GoAnimate video which has been uploaded onto Youtube. The video explores the audience of film posters for coming of age films. I am also able to explain why it appeals to a particular audience, which is teenagers and young adults, opposed to appealing to other groups of people, such as children and adults. Moreover, I explain ways in which the creators of these posters make them a certain way in order to appeal to their target audience. Features which may appeal to an audience of teenagers may be large images which show conflict, action and drugs and alcohol. This appeals to the audience and therefore is used to keep audiences engaged when viewing the poster.

I have learnt many things about the audience for posters which are specifically within the coming of age genre. One of the things I have learnt is that posters for the genre are targeted towards teenagers and young adults, as they are the main demographic for coming of age films. This audience is catered to with the poster, as features such as star ratings, bankable star names and images which suggest conflict and action are used. Touching, sensitive and controversial images are also used to cause a 'shock factor' and leave the audience with the image of the poster in their head, creating an incentive for them to go and view the entire production if enough influence is left within their minds from viewing the poster. I have also learnt how adults and the elderly are not interested when viewing coming of age film posters, as they are not interested in themes such as drugs and alcohol. Therefore, if they do happen to view this form of advertisement in their daily lives, they would choose to take no notice of it and are most likely not going to go and view the production in cinemas and theaters. This task has helped me for when planning my own poster, as I now know the demographic which I aim to interest and what must be done to allow this to happen. Images are crucial in the poster and are often used as the background for the entire poster, which is what I intend to use for my own poster.
